The well-known trade names
Certain trade names or brand names have gained immense popularity are known across the world. These are well-known trade names and are immediately identified by consumers. These trade names might have taken quite some time to build up their fame and reach the current popularity that they enjoy. There are many reasons for which a trade name can become well-known among consumers. Sometimes, the particular product or service might not be available in a particular part of a country or even in a particular region of the world. Yet, the fame of the good would precede the good so that the trade name becomes a household name even before the product has not entered the market in that particular country or region.
Brand names that became household names
There are many examples of such well-known trade names. Some of these examples have with time become generic names so that the trade name is now so well-known that it is used synonymously with the name of the product, instead of merely one particular brand of the product. Xerox photocopy machines are one such example.
The trade name Xerox in UAE became so well-known amongst consumers across the world that with time the trade name was used as a synonym for getting a photocopy as opposed to merely a trade name. There might be many other such trade names that spring to mind, ranging from brand names for face tissues to cereal to footwear. These trade names became so famous that consumers started blurring the lines between the trade name and the name of the product.
The secret behind the success
One of the reasons for the trade name to become so well-known could be the effective advertising carried out by the company. The company would have used effective advertising techniques which resulted in the trade name being so deeply etched in the minds of the consumers so that they cease to think of it as merely a trade name. Another reason could be the high quality of the product. Due to the product being of high quality, the consumers would have patronized the product and encouraged others to purchase or use that particular product too. Thus, as a result, the trade name would have become well-known as it symbolized high quality. Further, the product might have also gained popularity as it might have been the first product of such nature. Thus, one of the earliest brands of a mobile phone, would have eventually become synonymous with the term mobile phone as it would have been the only or one of few brands available at the time. Thus, these trade names became household names over time.
